MEDIEVAL FORTRESS - Siena

This ancient castle for sale is located just a few kilometres from Siena in Tuscany, surrounded by a spectacular view; the first certain date is 731 d.c. when it was assigned to the Lombard king Liutprand. Later, the castle became one of the possessions of the Lombard family 'Ardegheschi' whose domain stretched between the Tyrrhenian sea and Siena, infact the area was named "County Ardenghesca". Their possessions were centered on some castles, including this for sale and many other fortified villages.
In the thirteenth century the Republic of Siena subdued the Ardengheschi family and the Castle passed under the Sienese domain. Later the Count Andrea Tolomei became the new owner.
For sure there are documents that testify the history of the building back from the 12th century and in time has been occupied by some of the most powerful families in the region of Siena.
Once eclipsed the Republic of Siena the castle passed in the hands of the Florentines under the monarchy of the family Dei Medici.
In the eighteenth century began its restructuring following the purchase by the noble Borghesi family and after many others transfers of property and a long tormented history, this castle today appears unique and mysteriously beautiful, full of historical charm which has been perfectly preserved.

A characteristic road leads to this luxurious castle, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view and a stunning landscape; the imposing front door gives access to a room with the staircase leading to the main floors.
